Review sobre restaurantes para preparar el writing para examen CAE

Un review sobre restaurantes os propongo hoy con el fin de ayudar a preparar el writing para el examen CAE. Hace unos días compartía con vosotros un article, también para preparar el CAE, de una alumna mía, el cual me había gustado mucho mucho. Hoy este review es de la misma alumna, Eva, a la cual doy las gracias por querer compartir y además felicito por estar «currándoselo» tanto y por tanto mejorando a pasos agigantados. Como decimos en inglés, practice makes perfect, desde luego que sí.

Se trata de un review, que como sabéis los que estáis preparando el CAE, es uno de los writings que sale en este examen. También podéis encontrar review en los exámenes de la Escuela Oficial de Idiomas. Vamos allá 🙂

Were you to want me If I were told to recommend a good restaurant to eat in Guadalajara, I would be in doubt due to the fact nowadays two options are by far the most chosen hangouts for people between 20 and 30, The Space and The Sky.

So, this weekend I decided to check by myself the reasons of for it myself.

On Saturday, I decided to visit The Space, located in the city centre of Guadalajara. As soon as I entered, I was welcomed by a magnificent setting. The walls were are made of stone, which gave the restaurant a vintage look. The menu offers a wide range of mouth-watering dishes, by selecting just first-quality ingredients. After much thought, I finally ordered a dish of pasta as main course. It tasted like heaven on earth. What It was a pity that the service did not accompany the quality of food, owing to the fact the waitress was everything but sympathetic friendly.

On Sunday night, my choice was The Sky, which is placed in the suburbs. Good music and kind atmosphere invite you to spend a great deal of time. The longer you are there, the better you feel. And the best of all are the views, because from every single table you can enjoy a breathtaking landscapes.

The menu is based on the usual choice of pizzas, burgers and fries, but it offers  good value for the money. Besides, not only was the service outstanding but the owner’s restaurant’s owner was also willing to exchange with me some kind words with me.

Taking into account all the reasons underlined above, I highly would highly recommend you the first one, as long as you had special moments to celebrate   in with your family. But if you prefer to have a great deal of some time with friends,  choose the other one.

NOTAS:

ASPECTOS A MEJORAR Y CORREGIR:

1. Nada más empezar el review se ha querido introducir algo que suelo recomendar para demostrar nivel avanzado, una condicional invertida, en este caso con la segunda condicional, lo único que la he decidido cambiar porque había muchos «to» juntos y me sonaba raro. He optado por: «If I were told to» = si me dijeran. Si no recuerdas cómo hacer inversiones con las condicionales, te recomiendo esta explicación: inversión con oraciones condicionales.
2. Diferencia entre «myself» y «by myself». «By myself» es un sinónimo de «on my own» y significa hacer algo tú sólo, sin compañía, mientras que «myself» quiere decir «tu mismo» pero no necesariamente sin compañía. Aquí nuestra seguidora quería decir «comprobar ella misma» (pero igual fue con amigos o familia, no sola).
3. El orden de palabras en inglés es muy importante a la hora de escribir un writing. A este respecto, siempre explico a mis alumnos lo que es un verbo transitivo y un verbo intransitivo. Quizá oyeras hablar de estos dos conceptos en el colegio pero hace años que no lo has vuelto a oír ni utilizar, pues bien, ¿qué mejor momento que estudiando inglés para recordarlo? Un verbo transitivo es un verbo que lleva complemento directo (un objeto, una cosa), por ejemplo, si yo digo: yo como manzanas = yo es el sujeto, como es el verbo y manzanas es lo que cómo, esto es el complemento directo. Si yo digo, en cambio: yo corro rápido = yo es sujeto, corro es el verbo y rápido un adverbio. Como veis, no digo qué corro, por tanto, no hay complemento directo y el verbo correr, en este ejemplo, es un verbo intransitivo. Ahora bien, para qué es importante estos dos conceptos a la hora de escribir, porque un verbo transitivo tiene que ir seguido de su complemento directo, no se pueden separar para meter otro complemento en medio. Ejemplo: yo hablo bien inglés = I speak English well = en español podemos poner «bien» (adverbio) entre el verbo y el complemento directo (English), en inglés, no. En nuestro writing, «check the reasons for it myself», el verbo check es un verbo transitivo, cuyo complemento directo es «reasons for it», por tanto, no los puedo separar. Otro ejemplo del writing: exchange some kind words with me.
4. The walls are made of stone = en presente, porque siguen estando, no es pasado.
5. What a pity es una explamación,  detrás de ello no digo nada más, pero si quiero decir «es una pena…», digo «it’s a pity…».
6. Sympathetic es un false friend, significa empático, comprensivo, no simpático, que es «friendly».
7. Cuidado con el genitivo sajón, hay que invertir los sustantivos, es decir, al revés que el español. Si necesitas leer algo al respecto, aquí una explicación: genitivo sajón
8. Cuando un verbo tiene dos partes, es decir, está compuesto por auxiliar e infinitivo, si queremos poner un adverbio, éste debe ir en medio: would highly recommend.
9. Celebrar en familia: celebrate with your family.
10. A great deal of es un sinónimo de «a lot of», que está muy bien para utilizar en un writing de C1, pero no olvides su significado. Aquí mejor «some» porque no queremos decir mucho», sino «algo de tiempo».

ASPECTOS POSITIVOS:

1. Good vocabulary, idioms and structures: I would be in doubt, after much thought, a wide range of mouth-watering dishes, hangouts, it tasted like heaven on earth, it is up to you, the ball is in your court, exchange kind words, outstanding, breathtaking, was everthing but, good value for money etc. 
2. Buenos conectores: due to the fact, owing to the fact, besides, as soon as.
3. Good grammar: inversiones, as long as, passive, relatives, by + verb in ing, etc.
4. Este review está muy bien redactado. Aunque hay errores, éstos no impiden la comprensión del texto. La gramática y el vocabulario presentan un nivel muy avanzado, propio del nivel c1 o incluso c2 en ocasiones.
